Online Gambling Legislation Bill HB0479 Misses Floor Vote Session

This week, the Illinois state legislature has adjourned for the year with the hopes of getting some sort of online gambling legalization in the state, but those hopes were soon diminished with the state committee not getting to a floor vote this session.

The bills best chance was this session with achieving the support of the floor vote in the House Senate. HB0479, the bill in question detailed all necessary arrangements to legalize online casino and daily fantasy sport activities with strict guidelines which was already approved and passed the state Senate.

With the bill being bogged or held up in the committee time was of an essence. There was a total of three different proposals in the committee since the beginning of the year. Last month both the Senate and the House shown some activity with a “last minute” vote being called upon for at least just one of the three.

All of the differentiated bills will be forwarded to next year’s legislative sessions. The 2018 session is said to start sometime in January. Hopefully H479 will start out where it left in the House Rules Committee.
