Washington D.C. Ready, Set, Deal!
The time is now upon us and the one state/districts in the US that has been the biggest opponent to online gambling/poker is about to become the FIRST state to legalize online poker! News out of Washington D.C. is that a trial version of a legalized online poker entity is set to begin this September. To start with, only about 20 to 30 districts will be offered legalized poker on the internet within the cities limits. In each location, all areas offering the newly legalized poker sites will be in Hotels and Bars only. If all goes well, with no problems the long awaited legalized poker will be available to all D.C. citizens by years end.
If you remember back, in the beginning of the year online poker regulations were brought to the floor of Congress in Washington, and normally Congress would have just rejected any such bill, but at the time of the introduction no one in Congress objected and the official time span passed which made the bill pass automatically.
The way city officials plan on capitalizing with the legalization of online poker is by taking “50%” of the rake from table games as well as taxing player’s winnings, which total over $600. One member of the online poker world who has concerns with this trial run in D.C. is Phil Hellmuth. He believes that this trial run is going to be to small, with only around 600,000 players being able to participate this could hurt the sites offering the games and not show a true need or want of the poker world by the vast majority. So in September when this ‘trial’ legalized poker begins lets hope that all 600,000 citizens that are included in the trial area take part and boost the chances of online gambling nationwide.

This just makes the government more prejudice. What are they saying? If you can leave your house easily and travel to Vegas, an Indian casino, and now a specific hotel or bar, then it is okay; otherwise NO! Well, I have a disability, use a wheelchair and have a difficult time traveling… I also pay my taxes, and I’m an upstanding member of society. If there are any class-action attorneys reading this, I hope you are thinking what I’m thinking. I’m by no means ‘alone’.
