peter eastgate2008 World Series of Poker Champion and professional poker player from Denmark, Peter Eastgate, recently made and announcement and said that he will be giving up the poker life soon.

The poker pro is only 24 years old and since his big win at the WSOP he has been traveling the world from one poker tournament to the other. Apparently, Eastgate needs a break from it all and he said that he wants to try new things and in a way, look for his identity.

This is what Eastgate wrote on the PokerStars blog: “When I started playing poker for a living, it was never my goal to spend the rest of my life as a professional poker player. My goal was to become financially independent. I achieved that by winning the WSOP Main Event in 2008. The period following has taken me on a worldwide tour, where I have seen some amazing places and met many new people; it has been a great experience. In the 20 months following my WSOP win, I feel that I have lost my motivation for playing high level poker along the way and I have decided that now is the time to find out what I want to do with the rest of my life. What this will be, I do not yet know. I have decided to take a break from live tournament poker, and try to focus on Peter Eastgate, the person.”

It is understandable that the boy wants a break from the poker circuit and everyone in the online gambling world is supportive of his decision. However, we hope he goes on to do things that he likes and eventually rediscovers his love for poker as he is such a top-class player.
