Indonesian Police Crackdown On Online Gambling
Jakarta, Indonesia (AHN) – Police have arrested two suspects in a crackdown on two online gambling sites in the city.
Officials said the two sites, www.Ibcbet.com and www.casino.sbobet.com, could generate a daily income of 500 million rupiah (US$55,500).
Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar in a news conference Tuesday said the two men were apprehended at a housing complex.
One of the suspects, identified only as “Benny,” said that he was an agent or runner between bettors and the bookmaker.
The police spokesman said the site administrators and the bookmaker apparently managed to leave the country and continue to operate the sites.
Suspected gambling paraphernalia was also seized in the raid, including a laptop, transaction notes, bank books and 495 million rupiah ($54,500).
